I have a female (not main) character who is working at a big newspaper-company as an assistant. If someone could give me a short description about what it´s like I would appreciate that. Atmosphere, rate of work etc.

I have some experience from a big newspapercompany. Maybe I can help you with some of your story lines...?

Bosses and journalists sit normally with their foots crossed over the table, with a telephone to the ear, and their arms crossed behind the head. They talk quietly and wait and prepare for the news. Some reporters and photographers leave as teams and some teams come back. They walk fast and the ones that come back bring the interesting information and everybody wants to know how it was.

Next to the coffee-machine it´s good fun. High laughs! If somebody stop their job its normal tro have cake enough for some hundred employees.

If something BIG happens a so called FLASH (iii) sound high through all the building, and makes all the resting foots leave the table while round eyes awaits what´s the happening.

Macke - What exactly is the work your female caracter assist? I hope you get some help from this, but I can come up with a lot more if you need!

Big thanks for your answer! I never knew about the iiii sound if something important happens.
She is assisting the freelance photographers - selecting pictures and photoshop work. I´ll be happy for more information.
One important thing - how often are freelance photographers actually at the newspaper company? The female character has a crush on on of the photographers so it would be good if they show up quite often :)

Oh... Sometimes the freelancers work there a lot and sometimes they are busy for weeks with their other projects. So she must act NOW and don´t wait if she want to make something out of her crush. Or she dream for weeks until he pops up and in to her big dream of reality??
Maybe she get good help from this crush - why don´t he invite her to work with him? Life can be good!
